Brief News

The majority of the ongoing research in DARCOF concludes at the end of 2004. In order to ensure a continuous Danish research effort on organic farming a new strategy for DARCOF has been undertaken. This strategy is the basis for a new research programme that will run from 2005 to 2010 with a preliminary total budget of 27 million Euro.

During the new research programme, DARCOF aims to:

  • Initiate and coordinate research which, based on organic principles, develops integrity and efficiency in the whole organic food chain – from farmer to consumer
  • Ensure that organic farming research contribute to a sustainable development of society as a whole
  • Ensure scientific quality at a high international level and a optimal utilization of resources spend on research
  • Contribute to a strengthened European and international cooperation on research and research training in organic farming and food production
  • Ensure relevance and utilization of research by mediation, communication and cooperation between users of research and research groups
